Trust & Safety

Buying and selling worn clothing only works if both sides feel safe. This page sets out exactly what Used4Fans checks, where your money sits while an order is in flight, how to stop a payout if something goes wrong, and how far either side can stay anonymous.

We verify the seller before the profile goes live

A STAR profile is not published the moment somebody signs up. Sellers cannot register with a throwaway email address — they sign in through an established provider such as Google, Apple, or Facebook, and we review their public social media presence on a random basis before activating the profile.

Identity verification may also be carried out by our payment provider as part of the payout process, including checks against official ID documents.

  • Sign-in through Google, Apple, or Facebook — no anonymous email registrations
  • Manual review of the seller’s public social profiles before activation
  • Identity checks through the payment provider before money can be paid out

We check that the product is really theirs

Sellers must upload real photographs of the item they are listing. Where it is needed to establish that the item genuinely belongs to the seller, we ask for a photo showing the STAR holding or wearing it — a generic or copied product image is not enough.

If a profile or a listing looks unclear or suspicious, it is not approved, and listings that are already live can be removed.

  • Real photos required for every listing
  • Proof-of-ownership photos requested where needed
  • Unclear or suspicious profiles and listings are rejected or removed

Your money is held until the order is done

Payments run through Stripe, a global payment provider. When a FAN pays, the money does not go straight to the STAR — it sits in the Stripe escrow account attached to the order.

The STAR has 3 days to accept and ship the order. If that does not happen, the order is cancelled automatically, the money is refunded to the FAN, and the product goes back on sale. The payout to the STAR is only released once the order has completed and the complaint window has closed.

  • Card details are handled by Stripe — Used4Fans never sees them
  • Unaccepted orders auto-cancel after 3 days and are refunded in full
  • Payouts release only after the order completes and no complaint is open

Every shipment is trackable, and the clock is public

A STAR cannot mark an order as shipped without entering the carrier’s tracking link and tracking number. That is what triggers the shipping email to the FAN, and it is also what unlocks the payout later — so there is no incentive to skip it.

Once shipped, the order completes when the FAN confirms receipt, or automatically 10 days after shipping if they do not.

  • Tracking number required before an order can be marked shipped
  • The FAN is emailed at every status change
  • Orders complete automatically 10 days after shipping

If something is wrong, you can stop the payout

From the moment an order completes, the FAN has 5 days to report a problem using the “Complaint” link in their order email — for example if the tracking number never worked, the package never arrived, or the item is not what was advertised.

Filing a complaint halts the payment flow and notifies the Used4Fans support team, who help resolve it. If it cannot be resolved, the money is refunded to the FAN. If no complaint is filed within those 5 days, the delivery counts as accepted and the payment is released.

  • 5 days to report a problem after an order completes
  • Filing a complaint freezes the payout while the case is open
  • Unresolved cases are refunded to the FAN

Sellers are accountable to their fans

After an order arrives, the FAN can rate the STAR, and that rating is visible to everyone who visits the profile. Sending something other than what was advertised is not a private mistake — it follows the seller around and costs them future sales.

Because a STAR’s reputation on Used4Fans is tied to the social identity they promote, the incentive to describe items honestly is much stronger than on an anonymous marketplace.

Both sides can stay private

Your data is not shared, other than the exceptions set out in our Terms & Conditions covering legal obligations. Neither side has to hand over their home address to the other if they would rather not.

STARS can create a private profile that is not promoted publicly and is only reachable through a link they share themselves. For return addresses, a parcel shop or Packstation works instead of a home address.

FANS can have a package sent to a post office box, held at a branch, sent to a parcel shop or Packstation, or routed through a pseudonym-address provider. You simply enter whichever delivery address you want in your settings.

  • Private STAR profiles are visible only to people you send the link to
  • Parcel shop or Packstation accepted as a return address
  • P.O. box, branch pickup, or pseudonym address accepted for delivery

What Used4Fans is not

Used4Fans is a marketplace for pre-owned personal items. Because everything sold here has already been worn or used, returns are not possible — that is why the complaint window, the tracking requirement, and the ratings exist instead.

Sellers are responsible for declaring shipments correctly for customs, and for the accuracy of what they list. Buyers are responsible for entering a delivery address they can actually receive at. If either side is unsure, contact support before the order goes out.
